Biography - Cory McCormick

Cory was the first non-blood relative to be offered an honorary membership to Rocket Team Vatsaas. Based on our success with that decision, for many years we agreed he would also be the last. However, decisions of this sort are somewhat like an over-enthusiastic intake of Tequila. It seems like a good idea at the time, but the violent wretching that follows gives a vigorous indication that the decision wasn't nearly as wise as you first believed. You invariably learn that you are destined make the same error again someday, because after all, those damaged brain cells never do grow back.

At least, that's what they tell us.

Cory first piqued the interest of the Vatsaas brothers when he attempted a Level One certification with a flying tetrahedron he had named "I'm Too Sexy For My Cert". Pure poetry. While Cory is perhaps the most sensible member of the team, he does suffer from a peculiar spatial mechanics disorder that causes him to greatly exaggerate the dimensions of any cylindrical item. Cory is shown here displaying his 10-inch motor casing.

One might guess that Cory's interest in rocketry would be a natural outgrowth of his engineering degree from Embry-Riddle, or his career involvement in the Aerospace industry. Perhaps. But there are very few who have ever seen Cory actually fly a rocket. Or paint a rocket. Or complete a rocket, for that matter. It is now widely suspected that Cory is really just a rocket groupie. The implications of that possibility are really too frightening to discuss.

In addition to Cory's rocketry prowess, he is also an accomplished bassist. His band, Elements of Chaos is something he calls "progressive metal". It's really good, in a 'hair-caught-in-the-meatgrinder' sort of way. Visit their web site if you are curious to see what Cory would look like as a vampire.

When he isn't playing music or watching other people's rockets fly, Cory is likely to be involved in one of his many other outside interests, which include freestyle spelunking, forensic psychology, extreme ironing, and animal husbandry.
