9/1/2008 Cinema
Pulled from the archives! D. Bert Cooper's Daring-Do flight from GHS 2006. Two G64 motors, one in each leg. Both lit, but not at the same time.
We recommend dramamine before viewing

6/11/2008 Roadside Rockets
Huge update! Burl Finkelstein stars as "Where's Waldo"!
5/6/2008 Haliburton Maurauder
Added a couple of nice flight photos. It wasn't the most straight or most vertical of all rocket flights, up it did go in the general direction of 'up'....
4/30/2008 Reaper
Added flight photos of Stefan's 4" diameter 38mm powered rocket.
4/30/2008 What's New?
Added a photo to the right-hand column of Stefan's Reaper on an I284.
4/30/2008 Commander Kip Quasar's Galactic Zephyr - Flight 5
Documentation of the Zephyr's successful flight #5, this time on a sparky N.
3/30/2008 Haliburton Maurauder
Brad's latest addition to his bulbous rocket fleet. The current paint scheme may not be the final because it is really lame-o. But the rocket is pretty cool.
3/26/2008 Reaper
Stefan built a new rocket known as the 'Reaper'. It can fly on motors ranging from G impluse to J impulse. It features custom fiberglass nose and tail cones and has wicked paint and graphics.
3/12/2008 SS1 4-inch RC Boost Glider
We continue to conduct experiments in preparation for the launch of our 4:1 SpaceShipOne replica. This 4" diameter radio-controlled boost glider has already provided a great deal of useful knowledge.
3/10/2008 Cinema
A very short movie of the Zephyr's fourth flight was captured purely by accident (instead of a still photo, the digital camera was set to take video) so there are several seconds of the launch. Great liftoff on an N2250 sorbitol motor.
3/4/2008 Commander Kip Quasar's Galactic Zephyr - Flight 4
The long-awaited CD from Tsolo T. Tsolo at RocketShots has arrived with photos from the Zephyr flying at ARG5. The pictures were huge and high-def; it seems a travesty to have to shrink them down for the web, but they are still beautiful.
3/3/2008 What's New?
A crisp new photo of the Galactic Zephyr's fourth flight has been added to the photo column on the right of this page. Photography by Tsolo T. Tsolo. Motor by Burl Finkelstein.
2/29/2008 Home
Changes to the Home page should happen at least every February 29th. Nothing big this leap year, but it now includes a nice photo of the SS1.
2/28/2008 Where are they now?
Admittedly, this may not be nearly as entertaining as the stuff in John's garage — but we posted it anyway. Where do you store those big rockets anyway?
2/28/2008 Lessons Learned
New photo at the top of the page, and the opening paragraph explains why it was chosen. A small version of the photo also resides in the 'lessons' mouseover in the title bar.
2/20/2008 Commander Kip Quasar's Galactic Zephyr - Flight 4
Brad has a HUGE flight coming up on February 23rd, thanks to Burl Finkelstein and the N sugar motor he cooked up for the occasion. This page begins with the pre-flight prep, and will conclude with details of the flight.
2/15/2008 Dogbert Letter Number 9
It's been a while since Dogbert has cozied up the the keyboard to handle our correspondence. This letter to the Qwest Customer Service Department documents Brad's battle with corporate incompetence - and how he received years worth of free DSL!
2/10/2008 SS1 Surface Finishing
Ok, after the application of the decals, it is pretty much done. I did the best I could.
2/5/2008 SS1 Surface Finishing
And now it has stars.
1/26/2008 SS1 Surface Finishing
And now it has paint. My wife says it is beautiful
1/26/2008 SS1 Horizontal Stabilizers
I've added some more description on the construction of the control surfaces. This is not very typical for a rocket, and it's a bit unusual for an RC plane, too.
1/23/2008 SS1 Surface Finishing
The SS1 has been shot with primer. It looks good.
1/22/2008 SS1 Airframe Assembly
One last major modification to the airframe before I was able to move on the applying paint -- I needed to cut an access port into the fuselage. This is a big, gaping hole, so I was very nervous about making it. Rightly so....
1/4/2008 Heavy Launch Pad
Just like the launch controller I was surprised to discover we had never posted details on our heavy launch pad. So here it is.
12/20/2007 SS1 Airframe Assembly
This update is a pretty momentous one. The assembly of the external airframe for the SS1 is finally complete.
12/12/2007 SS1 Reduced Scale Test Glider
Yet another page documenting the ongoing saga of RTV's most ambitious project yet. This rocket continues to stretch our boundaries -- now we have constructed a scale glider to test the soaring aerodynamics of the SS1!
12/9/2007 SS1 Flight Parameters
Posted some notes about the flight projections of our 1:4 scale version of the SpaceShipOne, including the motor description, weight predictions, Cd, velocity, altitude, etc. In case you're curious.
11/30/2007 SS1 Airfoil
It's been a LONG time since we allowed the SS1 project to go dormant: Well, it is back on the front burner. This is the first report on the renewed progress of this massive endeavor.
11/15/2007 Rockets On Cakes

A birthday rocket cake created by Lisa from Lansdale, PA has now been added to our infamous collection of ballistic pastries.
11/14/2007 Rockets On Cakes
Danielle from Sydney impressed us in three ways: First, she made a rocket cake. Second, she brought fifteen 5 & 6 year-olds to a public venue for a birthday party and didn't lose a single one. Third, she is great with flattery.
11/14/2007 Rockets On Cakes
Susan from Brisbane, Australia wrote to tell us the rocket cake she'd made "...wasn't as good as I'd hoped but I had alot of fun making it (with the help of a bottle of wine and the leftover sweets!)" We're all about fun, so we're sharing it with you.
11/6/2007 Electronic Launch Controller
Brad and the team have been using this relay-based launch controller for some time, and it gets modified a little more every year. The last thing that ever happens on our projects is the documentation, and this is no exception.
10/22/2007 Talon 3
Some time ago, Brad built his favorite rocket kit - the Talon from Giant Leap Rocketry - and wrote a review about this great product. We are just now getting around to posting the article online. This rocket is SEXINESS redefined!
8/22/2007 Robo Halloweener
Just in time for all you propulsion-obsessed trick-or-treaters! Rick documents the construction and flight of his own wacked-out version of the RTV pumpkin rockets!
4/24/2007 Here's a first -- an update for someone else's web site! Rocketry Planet did a nice web review of the RTV site, so we MUST post a link to send you there. Click [HERE!]
4/23/2007 Links
Added a link to Rocketry Planet on the Links page. Rocketry Planet is a world class hobby portal dedicated to hobby rocketry enthusiasts around the globe.
4/6/2007 Burl's Big 10-inch V2
I was surprised to realize this week that we had very little material posted on Burls big 10-inch V2 from Polecat Aerospace. But his flight in March 2007 was memorable enough to warrant its own web page.

Added video of Burl's spectacular forward closure failure that destroyed his 10-inch diameter V2 missile.
4/5/2007 BIG BOY -- Fat Boy Upscale
Posted an addendum at the bottom of the page that documents Burl's recent M-powered nozzle failure.
4/4/2007 Relay staging system
Description and schematic for an ingenious relay staging system for air starting clusters. This system has reliably lit off seven parallel staged motors in a single flight.
4/3/2007 Rockets and Muppets
We were stunned to discover that the relationship between rockets and muppets (and Bert in particular) goes back much further -- and much deeper -- than the Vatsaas boys! Check out this page to learn why...!
4/2/2007 What's New?
Added what has to be one of the world's finest CATO photos - a 10" diameter V2 destroyed by a home made Sorbitol motor. Brought to you by none other than Burl Finkelstein and snapped by Frank Yonkers. Click on the photo for a larger view.
3/23/2007 Cinema
Here's a great new video; the M class sorbitol motor blows its nozzle in Burl's 12" Fat Boy and ends a spectacular series of aerobatics with a land shark. This is why the paint companies love rocketeers.

Our Rockets On Cakes page invites our readers to send us photos of their own creations, and here is one of the most recent; an award-winning Cub Scout rocket cake!

4/19/2006 What's New?
Burl strikes again with this incredible 5" Gemini Titan. Rumor has it the capsule is manned with vintage Matt Mason action figures! picture is on the side bar.
