The RTV No-Nonsense Privacy Policy

If you are like us, you get spammed a couple of dozen times per day. We hate that, and unless you are some sort of deranged psychotic, (like Brad), you hate it too. Hopefully, our privacy policy will set your mind at ease.

What we DO do

Like most web sites, we track our hits to see what pages are popular, how many hits we get, and how people use the site. In addition, we ask for specific feedback from our visitors in the form of page ratings and feedback. The intent of this feedback is to help us make the site better, to know what people like so that we can provide more of it, and to stroke our already bloated egos.

What we DO NOT do

We do not send unsolicited commercial e-mail. We sometimes reply to feedback, most often because someone asks a question or says something particularly interesting or useful that we would like to know more about. We will never abuse, give away, sell, or otherwise jeopardize the privacy of your e-mail.

Why ratings and feedback require your name and e-mail address

This is a family web site and, unfortunately, some people don't show much discretion when posting feedback. All feedback is reviewed before it is approved for view on the site. When reviewing feedback, we use the following criteria:

  • Does the feedback look legitimate? Sometimes we get feedback from Mickey Mouse, Long Duck Dong, or other simlilarly clever sources. We weed these out. This rule applies to ratings as well.
  • Does the feedback use profanities or obscenities? If so, we might edit them and then approve them. Most often, we will simply delete them.
  • Is the feedback completely inane? If so, we will mock it unmercifully when Dogbert answers our mail.
  • Is the feedback negative? If it is something we can fix, like a bug, we will fix it so that the feedback is no longer relevant. We will show constructive criticism and negative opinions, as long as they don't get filtered out by the previous criteria. If you look around, you will see some low ratings. If they look legitimate, we respect them.

What does "Anonymous" mean?

Both the ratings and feedback forms allow you to check a box that says, "keep me anonymous." Checking this box causes your rating or feedback to show up with "Anonymous" in place of your name. The RTV team can still see your name within our administration pages. We use this to validate the legitimacy of the rating or feedback, as described here. However, only the RTV team will see your name. If you look around at the various ratings and feedback throughout the site, you will find a handful that are anonymous.

We want your opinion, so make like a Chicago Democrat and vote early, vote often, vote even if you are dead. However, as this is an electronic ballot, West Palm Beach Democrats will need to find a better excuse than hanging or pregnant chads for failing to properly fill out the form.

C'mon! Tell us what you really think about this page. We can take it. Really!
(It is only fair to warn you that those who say something truly idiotic may be mocked when Dogbert answers our mail.)
